Over the last few weeks, I was blessed to visit my favorite retreat center (a Buddhist dhamma hall in Onalaska, Washington, at the foot of Mount St. Helens) to sit in silence for ten days of meditation. I’ve been known to joke—if asked for a strange fact about myself—that one of my quirks is that I am able to sit eerily still for intimidating amounts of time.
The Advocacy Action Committee will gather signatures on a pair of gun control petitions this Sunday, May 15, from 10:00 until 10:50 am in the Gallery. The petitions would place IP17 (safer owners and less lethal ammunition) and IP 18 (stops proliferation of assault weapons), on the November ballot.
A huge thank-you to everyone who attended one of the 14 Listening Sessions held by the Profile Committee. In all, 158 members of the St. Michael’s congregation contributed their ideas, suggestions, comments and questions regarding the search for our new rector. You told the Profile Committee what you value and how you see the future of the parish.

This Youth Group gathering is actually happening THIS Sunday, May 1. All youth in middle and high school are invited to come to the Parish Hall on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. The youth leadership is encouraging all youth to attend in order to participate in a Listening Session. The Profile Committee wants to hear from all parishioners, including our youth!
The Rev. Dr. Caroline Litzenberger will hold the fourth session in her hybrid History Sunday series—Radicals, Restoration & the American Revolution—this Sunday at 10:15 am as the story continues.
Grief is an isolating yet common experience. To speak to this and to find some sense of healing, we’re holding three grief circles during the month of May, co-hosted by Rev. Julia and various members of our parish. At this time, all sessions will be held at the church and in-person.
