out the transition process as St. Michael’s searches for a new rector
It has become increasingly clear to me that one of the hidden jobs of being a rector is to encourage the community to be involved in the work of the church by serving on various committees. As Jr. Warden for the People, that job has been delegated to me.
The Vestry has started its work to find a new rector. We have doubled the number of Vestry meetings and are working on the committee charters and the letters of interest for the applicants. We should have those available for everyone before Christmas.
During this time of transition, we are very fortunate to have the Rev. Karen Tiegs serving on Sundays as presider and preacher. The St. Michael’s Vestry and staff, aided by some very capable volunteers, have taken steps to be sure the parish’s needs are covered.
The Bishop of Oregon, the Rt. Rev. Diana Akiyama presided at the 9:00 am service on Sunday and then stayed to answer questions.
While I can point to and account for many wonderful and meaningful encounters and events and proclamations, it is what happens next in the life of this community that is the most meaningful to me
Our rector of 12 years, The Rev. Christopher Craun, announced last week that she was offered—and accepted—a position as Missioner for Thriving Congregations with the Diocese of Oregon.
