Rector Chris Craun’s Departure

Our rector of 12 years, The Rev. Christopher Craun, announced last week that she was offered—and accepted—a position as Missioner for Thriving Congregations with the Diocese of Oregon. Her last Sunday at St. Michael’s is November 21. We as a staff and parish are, of course, very sad to see her leave; we have grown and thrived and had a lot of fun during her time with us! But this is a wonderful opportunity for her, and we will be in good hands in coming days with our Associate Rectors James Joiner and Beto Arciniega. We will keep the community updated as we prepare for this transition.

Bishop Diana Akiyama wrote this about Chris joining the Diocesan staff: I am delighted to share with you the news that the Rev. Christopher Craun will join the diocesan team as our new Missioner for Thriving Congregations. This new position combines the responsibilities of the transition officer with new responsibilities focused on serving congregations seeking new and innovative ways to express faith in community. Chris not only brings experience and expertise to this work, her enthusiasm, energy, and creativity will serve the diocese well as we wonder, together, what God is creating today in the Episcopal Church in Western Oregon.
