many of us now find ourselves craving a time for reflection to process the news from the Middle East. As such, we are incorporating a Kyrie (“Lord, have mercy”) into our 9am and 11am services for the next few weeks, to be replaced with a Gloria or Song of Praise next month when we celebrate All Saints.

Have you noticed that many of our hymn choices over the past month have reflected the Season of Creation? To close out this unofficial church season on Sunday, join us in singing the hymns For the fruit of all creation, Touch the earth lightly, and Mothering God, you gave me birth.

Join us in celebrating St. Michael’s musical and architectural history at our Choral Evensong for the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels this Friday, September 29 at 7 PM. Using the 1892 Prayer Book and musical settings from 100+ years ago, we will celebrate our organ, choirs, and sacred space.

All are warmly invited to an Ensemble Boulanger recital this weekend, tied in to our celebration of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of St. Michael’s nave.

To observe these events, all are invited to a special Choral Evensong for the Feast of Saint Michael & All Angels on Friday, September 29, at 7:00 pm.

The choir season has started, and we are excited about our upcoming musical offerings! Please join us on Friday, September 29 at 7pm for a choral Evensong for the Feast of St. Michael & All Angels, where we will also be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Nave AND the 50th anniversary of our Balcom and Vaughan pipe organ.

A choral anthem will be offered this Sunday, August 20 at the 10am service. A summer pickup choir will sing Stephen Paulus’s simple but effective setting of Lift up our hearts, O King of Kings, with Brian Fairbanks on flute.

Don’t miss the special treat of a mini organ demo and organ building workshop this Sunday following the 10am service in the sanctuary.

Tenor Palmer Haffner reprises his 2023 Broadway Night solo “Beautiful City” from the musical Godspell during Sunday’s 10am service. Particularly poignant for Recovery Sunday, the song asks “Out of the ruins and rubble, out of the smoke, out of our night of struggle, can we see a ray of hope?”
