Mark your calendars for two special youth-group events in June! First, on Sunday, June 4, the St. Michael’s Youth Group will meet for an end-of-year party with our new rector Scott Painter. The time for this event is from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall, and it will include dinner, games and prizes.
There are several upcoming youth-group events, include a skate party on May 21 at St. Paul’s in Salem from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. Interested youth must register to receive lunch and skates; watch for an email from youth advisors about ride-sharing. All St. Michael’s youth in middle and high school are invited to attend the next Diocesan youth event on Sunday, April 23, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is an Earth Day event which will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Eugene.
All youth in middle and high school are invited next Sunday, December 18, for the Annual Youth Group Christmas Party. It will be happening in St. Michael’s House from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. There will be a gingerbread decorating contest and, back by popular demand, a White Elephant gift exchange.
Youth Group has returned with new energy for the 2022-23 school year! Youth group will meet every other Sunday, with third Sundays spent with the NE Youth Collective, a newly formed collaboration of progressive churches in NE Portland who “are committed to the love of God for young people, through community, service and spiritual growth.” Meetings with the Youth Collective will rotate locations.
This Youth Group gathering is actually happening THIS Sunday, May 1. All youth in middle and high school are invited to come to the Parish Hall on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. The youth leadership is encouraging all youth to attend in order to participate in a Listening Session. The Profile Committee wants to hear from all parishioners, including our youth!
On Sunday, May 1, we welcome Bishop Diana Akiyama to St. Michael’s. Bishop Diana will preach and preside at the 9:00 and 11:00 am services, and the Rev. Sherman Hesselgrave will assist. She will also preside and preach (with translation help) at the 1:00 pm service. Padre Beto will assist. We have several young people who will be confirmed at the morning services, and one member will be received into the Episcopal Church at the 11:00 am service.
The youth leadership invite you to start your spring break off right with a youth group gathering. All youth in middle and high school will meet this Sunday, March 20, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
The first youth group meeting of the new school year is happening at Normandale Park on Sunday, September 12, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Masks will be required, and dinner will be provided

The St. Michael’s Youth Group is meeting this coming Sunday, May 16, at Normandale Park on NE Halsey from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. We will offer a prepackaged light snack, and masks and social distancing will be required. We will meet rain or shine, so please dress accordingly – and wear shoes appropriate for playing kickball!
