We invite you to make a donation to “seed the soup pot” for the NE Emergency Food Program (NEPF), the local ministry we support every year on the Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday! Our young people will make an announcement and collect donations in person on Sunday, February 12th.

It’s time to join the St. Michael’s Creation Care Team. We need a group of concerned people who are willing to work toward achieving the goal of carbon neutrality that is needed to save our planet. The mission of the Creation Care Team will be two-fold. On one hand, the team will look at ways we can improve the carbon footprint of our facility. On the other, the team will provide information to help members of our community improve the climate resilience of their own homes. Working together, we can make a difference in the effort to save God’s creation.

Our Outreach & Justice team are leaving the Advent Giving Tree up in the Gallery until January 8, so there’s still time to donate to the three groups represented there. These groups are Outside In, Community Transitional School and a large Syrian refugee family new to the Portland area.

Giant storms, world-wide drought, record floods, extraordinary temperatures, and massive wildfires, are but a few of the devastating effects of Climate Change that are already happening on our planet. All of this has been predicted since the 1980s. But the necessary changes in our human way of living have been ignored. Today the Episcopal Church is determined to make a difference.

On Sunday, November 20, our Outreach & Justice Council is hosting a forum between the services entitled “Together, We Can End Unsheltered Homelessness.” Please join us at 10:10 am in the Nativity Hall, or check your eblast for the Zoom link information.

Between services on Sunday, November 13, the Advocacy Action committee will be in the Gallery with letters to Senators Wyden and Merkley requesting them to support the Global Food Security Reauthorization Act of 2022 (S.4649).

“This fragile earth, our island home” will be the focus of a series of discussions sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin from 6:30 pm to 8 pm on four consecutive Wednesdays in September, beginning September 7.
