He will be with us as we begin our search for a new full-time Associate Rector. Jesús’ availability to us will be eight hours per week, so we will have welcome but limited support in his ministry among us.

Celebración de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

For the past 16 years, St. Michael’s Spanish-speaking community has hosted the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, commemorating the date in 1531 when the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego, an indigenous Mexican who had recently converted to Christianity. To the present day, she remains a powerful symbol of Mexican identity and faith.

Guest Preacher on Nov. 3 at the 1:00 Service

On Sunday, November 3, at the Spanish-language service, we welcome the Reverenda Dra. Liliana Da Valle. Liliana was born in Argentina and emigrated with her husband to the United States in 1982. They graduated together from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary with Masters of Divinity and were called to serve as co-pastors at First Baptist Church in South Gate, CA. Since that time, she has served in leadership positions in the American Baptist Church, and she and her husband have become American citizens.

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 is the first day of National Hispanic Heritage Month. We reflect on the histories, and we celebrate the cultures and peoples whose ancestries originated in parts of the world currently known as Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Spain. Join us on Sunday, September 17, at 2:30 pm for a Tardeada (an afternoon festival) in the Nativity and Parish Halls. All are invited to enjoy a variety of Hispanic foods, live music and a raffle with nine possible prizes.

Misa Community News

There’s a lot going on with the Spanish-speaking community these days. The Misa happens every Sunday at 1:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend – maybe even pick up a little Spanish! There is a regular rotation of crucifers, acolytes and lectors who serve on Sundays, as well as ushers to welcome attendees and distribute bulletins.
