From Mary Meyers. Our lives are intricately interwoven. Each person, who they are and what they bring to our life together is an integral part of the design we are weaving. Diversity enhances the intensity and beauty, the wonder and awe in what we are able to weave together. Let us come together, welcoming one another, listening deeply to one another, encouraging and challenging one another and blessing one another that we might fully live into the call upon our lives, individually and communally.

I want to thank all of the people of St. Michael & All Angels for your very warm welcome this past Sunday. It was a day infused with joy, gratitude and hope as we marked the beginning of our journey together as parish and rector.

This colorful Sunday of Pentecost is the final Sunday of our choir season. The St. Michael’s Singers and Choristers will join forces at the 9:00 am service with Keith Hampton’s True Light, loosely based on the traditional spiritual This little light of mine, as well as the classic anthem Draw us in the spirit’s tether at communion.

Mark your calendars for two special youth-group events in June! First, on Sunday, June 4, the St. Michael’s Youth Group will meet for an end-of-year party with our new rector Scott Painter. The time for this event is from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall, and it will include dinner, games and prizes.

On Sunday, May 28, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. At St. Michael’s, that means that we gather in the Nave under beautiful, colorful hangings and descending doves. We listen to traditional Pentecost readings and dress in red, orange and yellow clothing.

Thursday is the Feast of the Ascension in the liturgical year. On this day the church remembers an important truth of our story: after death and after resurrection, life goes on–forever changed.
