Dedication & Blessing of the Columbarium Addition

On Sunday, September 24, as we celebrate the Feast of St. Michael & All Angels, we will formally dedicate the new addition to the Columbarium on this, the 100th anniversary of the nave. The vestry approved the Columbarium expansion in March of 2022, and a team was formed soon thereafter.

Kick-off Sunday was wonderful! It was so great to begin the fall season with you, to revel in the exquisite music of our St. Michael Singers, and to move together into new rhythms of worship, fellowship and service that come with the changing season.
Now, buckle up. The next few weeks are going to be packed with good stuff! We will celebrate important milestones to honor the parish’s rich history and look ahead to God’s future for us.

The Season of Creation

At St. Michael & All Angels, we are joining with Christians around the world to celebrate the Season of Creation. “Let Justice and Peace Flow” is the theme for this year’s ecumenical celebration, which is being held this year at St. Michael’s from September 10 through October 11.

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 is the first day of National Hispanic Heritage Month. We reflect on the histories, and we celebrate the cultures and peoples whose ancestries originated in parts of the world currently known as Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Spain. Join us on Sunday, September 17, at 2:30 pm for a Tardeada (an afternoon festival) in the Nativity and Parish Halls. All are invited to enjoy a variety of Hispanic foods, live music and a raffle with nine possible prizes.

Suicide-Prevention Forum Sunday

This coming Sunday, September 17, we welcome a special guest speaker for a forum on suicide prevention. Please join poet, artist, humanism-in-medicine awardee and child psychiatrist Dr. Diane Kaufman at 10:15 am in the Nativity Hall. The title of Dr. Kaufman’s talk is “Hope, Healing, & Holding On: A Suicide Prevention Awareness Presentation.”

I’ll Pray for You, You Pray for Me

You might recognize the Prayers of the People said each time we gather for Eucharist. Often these are prayers that use a prepared form from the Book of Common Prayer or another resource. Lately, they’ve been lovingly composed by members of the community.
