Happy Easter! We’ve only just begun to celebrate. You might know that Easter is the pinnacle celebration of the church year. At the Easter Vigil, we ended the fast of Lent and welcomed Easter light and life with great rejoicing. Now, amidst the Great 50 Days of the Easter season, spanning from Easter Day to Pentecost, we are invited to embrace the transformative power of resurrection in our hearts, through our lives, and for the whole world.

Good Friday, Easter Vigil & Easter Day

All are invited to participate in our remaining Holy Week services! Tonight at 6:30 pm is our bilingual Good Friday service. It will begin in the courtyard and include Stations of the Cross. The St. Michael’s Singers will provide musical leadership.

Musical Highlights for Holy Week

The musical highlights for Holy Week continue! Maundy Thursday will feature THREE beautiful choral anthems, including Maurice Duruflé’s much-loved “Ubi caritas” and Colin Mawby’s majestic “Ave verum corpus.” Good Friday’s bilingual evening service will feature a heart-wrenching arrangement of the African-American Spiritual “Take my mother home” during the veneration of the cross.

Let’s Walk Together in Holy Week

Today is first of three of the holiest days in the Church year, traditionally known as the Triduum (Latin for “three days”). This evening, we’ll begin to walk with Jesus toward the promised life of Easter. It is not an easy road, and best traveled with friends. I invite us to walk together.

Palm Sunday/ Sunday of the Passion

Today begins our Holy Week services and events at St. Michael’s. Both the 9:00 and 11:00 am services begin in the courtyard, weather permitting. (If raining, they will begin in the Nativity Hall.) The 9:00 will include processing around the block with palm fronds and song to commemorate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Music for Sunday & Maundy Thursday

Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter mean lots of dramatic choir anthems coming your way! For Palm Sunday at 9:00 am, Stephen Paulus’ “Carol of the Hill” will be sung by the St. Michael’s Singers, depicting the crucifixion through the scope of springtime and the hope of rebirth.

Easter 2024

Dear Siblings in Christ,
Recently, we have enjoyed some glorious sunshine and warm weather. Though I don’t much mind clouds, cold or rain, I am nonetheless delighted! It turns out I had forgotten about the power of changing seasons to inspire new possibilities and hope. Every turning brings its own farewells and greetings, but none perhaps more striking than Winter giving way to Spring.
