The Road to Connections

The new graphics on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall are an invitation to become more connected to St. Michael’s by finding a place to serve. Together, we can find new ways to use our spiritual gifts to contribute and grow in community.

It started out as part of the newly formed Newcomers Committee’s efforts to help newer folks find their way more easily into parish life. We thought participating in ministries that are easiest to join (and require little or no prep or training) would be a great way to do that. It’s an opportunity for members to engage more deeply, too.

The series of “billboards” along the curvy road identify these ministries and their purposes and orientation, as well as who to contact if you’re interested. In the “clouds” that float above the road you can also see spiritual gifts (for example, leadership, discernment, giving, hospitality) that support and sustain not only our ministries but also our spiritual lives in community. If your favorite ministry is not listed, that simply means it might take a little bit more to join –one that may need more experience or training (for example, crucifer or lay eucharistic ministers). We’re having a newcomers gathering on May 18 in the Parish Hall and wanted the board to showcase these opportunities for newcomers.

In the meantime, if you are interested in any of these ministries, please contact the person listed on the “billboard.” There is a QR code on each one which will take you to the leader’s email address. Come along!
