The Collective Emotional Tug

Dear ones,

I have been feeling a sense that there is a collective emotional tug that sways us from week to week. There are weeks when there is a collective joy or uplifted spirit and weeks when there is collective hopelessness and sadness. Sure, sometimes we may feel like we are on the other side of what seems to be the collective; but overall, I have noticed some consistencies. I was reminded during a check-in with a friend this week to try and trust God, a familiar sentiment from a sermon Matthew David preached before this pandemic. To know and to love God is to trust God. I cannot make meaning out of every struggle or disappointment this has caused, but I can rely on the faith that God walks with me, that God is walking with us. I trust that. And sometimes that is enough.

Faithfully,
Chris Craun+
