St. Michael’s Singers

This 35-voice choir provides vocal leadership during the 9:00 and 11:00 am Sunday services from early September through early June. The choir sings an anthem during the offertory at each service and leads the congregation in the psalms, hymns and service music.

The St. Michael’s Singers is a close-knit, welcoming community of singers with varying levels of choral experience who are willing to make the commitment required for a high level of music-making in support of our worship services. The St. Michael’s Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and sing at the 9:00 and/or 11:00 services each Sunday (except in summertime), rehearsing an hour before each service. A smaller Chamber Choir consisting of four paid section leaders and other members of the St. Michael’s Singers takes the alternate services.

The St. Michael’s Singers also prepares music for special services such as Choral Evensong, Advent Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve and Holy Week. The choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional Anglican choral anthems to gospel spirituals, Renaissance motets world music, and everything in between. The St. Michael’s Singers is open to anyone who can match pitch and commit to the schedule of weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning services. Some choral experience is helpful, but no audition is required. If you love to sing and are interested in learning more about or joining the St. Michael’s Singers, please contact Director of Music & Organist Hannah Brewer or Choir Director Brian Fairbanks.
