The ancient art of pysanky dates back to pre-Christian times. All are invited to come learn about the history of this beautiful tradition, the tools used and the meaning behind the colors and symbols. On Sunday, April 14, Scott+ will return for two events. First, from 10:15 to 10:45 am, he will lead a Summer Service Trip talk, location tba. Then from 3:30 to 5:30 pm, there will be an opportunity for families of St. Michael’s to be in community with Scott+ and discuss a number of topics.
The famous and always popular St. Michael’s Cake Auction returns on Sunday, April 7. We will again be auctioning off baked goods donated by all of you between the 9:00 and 11:00 am services on April 7. Proceeds from the sale will go toward supporting our meal ministry, now called Kitchen & Closet Outreach.
All are invited to join us here at St. Michael’s for our Holy Week services, starting with Palm Sunday on March 24 and ending with Easter Sunday on March 31.
Advocacy Action will be in the Gallery between services this Sunday, March 10, with a letter to the Oregon Board of Forestry. The letter is regarding a new Habitat Conservation Plan that is designed to support both the communities and the public forests of Oregon.
We are pleased to welcome the Rev. Sara Fischer on Sunday morning, March 10, as guest preacher at the 9:00 and 11:00 am services and as forum leader. A priest for more than 20 years, Sara+ most recently served as Rector of Saints Peter and Paul Episcopal Church until that church held its final services in December 2023. Sara+ is a chaplain to people living on the streets and is currently working through the Montavilla Project, a nonprofit, and St. Mary the Prophet, a new church plant for unhoused people..

The St. Michael’s Reckoning with Racism cohort began our journey alongside several other Episcopal congregations in the Metro East Convocation including St. Philip the Deacon, the historically Black Episcopal congregation located in the Albina district at 120 NE Knott.
In Lent. we are called to see our personal life-story as it is interwoven in God’s story. As always, we are reminded that we do not write our story alone.
