The Advocacy Action committee will be in the Gallery on Sunday, April 27, with a letter for folks to sign supporting the Climate Action Plan now being written by the Multnomah County Commissioners. This is an important issue, so please take a moment to stop at the table on your way to the Cake Auction.
Thank you to all our choirs at St. Michael’s for bringing such power and passion to our Holy Week services. We sang in English and Spanish (and Latin), enjoyed participation from young and old, combined or shared musical responsibilities with multiple choirs, and provided the score to our journey through the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
During the next six Sundays of this Easter season, the readings will offer glimpses of early Christians coming to terms with manifold implications of resurrection. We will find a risen Christ appearing to disciples, dreamers, and skeptics alike. New believers will spread Easter tidings in word and action, far and wide. All will be undeniably affected by these encounters.
St. Michael’s Vision & Strategy Committee invites all to its second all-parish gathering on Sunday, May 4, from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. We’ll explore the ministries in, of and for St. Michael’s and ask ourselves some important questions.
Join us for Holy Week as we reflect and celebrate through music and singing. On Maundy Thursday, April 17, the St. Michael’s Singers and Choristers will join forces to provide two anthems (and lead many hymns) as we experience foot-washing, the last supper, and the starkness of the stripping of the altar.
Today we enter into the three most solemn and sacred days of the Christian year, called the Triduum (“Three Days”). Jesus walks with us, showing us the way. Now, let’s stay especially close to him—watching attentively, learning deeply, being transformed together by true love.
All are welcome for our remaining Holy Week and Easter services! Tonight, April 18, is our bilingual Good Friday liturgy which includes Stations of the Cross and veneration of the Cross. Tomorrow night is our most important feast of the year, the Easter Vigil. There will be candlelight, hymns that we sing only at this service, and creatively presented traditional readings. Light incense will be used at this service.
