To close out the Season of Creation and celebrate the Feast of St. Francis, we will sing a variety of thematically relevant hymns on Sunday, including “All things bright and beautiful,” “For the beauty of the earth,” and “Make me a channel of your peace.” The St. Michael’s Singers and Choristers join forces at 9am for the hearty (and fitting) William Billings anthem, “Creation,” originally published in 1794. The Choristers then sing an arrangement of the Prayer of St. Francis on their own at communion. At 11am, the Saints & Singers offer a Spiritual arranged by our own Choir Director Brian Fairbanks.
Looking ahead, at the end of the month is another Halloween Organ Spooktacular, complete with scary music, poems, costumes, and candy. All are invited to this FREE non-liturgical event at 7:30pm on October 31 featuring St. Michael’s Organist Hannah Brewer, soprano Emma Cowell, a variety of spooky readers, and the music of Bach, Chaminade, Boëllmann, Schubert, and more. Kids aren’t the only ones who get to have fun on Halloween!
