Music this Sunday

Sunday’s music at Wilshire Park is brought to you by El Coro and their wonderful instrumentalists. In August at the 10am summer service in English, each week’s hymns will be from a list of YOUR favorites. If you haven’t emailed Hannah your favorite hymns yet, please do so ASAP at hannahb@stmaa.org so that we have a variety from which to choose.

Music in August

Several thematic Sundays are shaping up in August outside our hymn selections. There will be an all-Bach Sunday with sung solos by Josh English and Marya DeVoto, as well as an early music Sunday with selections from the Renaissance to celebrate Portland’s annual William Byrd Festival. Another summer pickup choir will throw together an anthem on August 2 and help lead the combined 9am and 11am congregations at our one 10am service.

Popup Recital

Don’t forget that kids AND adults are invited to prepare a musical number to perform at our Pop-up Music Recital on Sunday, August 9 in the Nativity Hall at about 11:15am. Sing a song! Play an instrument (piano available)! Play a duet with a friend! The event will be super informal and relaxed, so leave any nerves at the door and share a musical number of your choice with the community. Email Hannah Brewer to add your name to the performers’ list and/or if you need some piano accompaniment with your selection.
