Music for August 13 and beyond

Don’t miss the special treat of a mini organ demo and organ building workshop this Sunday following the 10am service in the sanctuary. Cliff Fairley (who will also sing a solo at 10am) and Hannah Brewer will host this hands-on opportunity to learn more about (and play!) our St. Michael’s pipe organ, as well as offering a chance to build a working, playable organ model from Orgelkids USA. All who are curious are welcome to participate, regardless of age or musical background!

On Wednesday, August 16 at 7pm, St. Michael’s is hosting a chamber concert for the William Byrd Festival called “‘And Byrds do sing’ – Byrd’s Music at Home.” This concert of secular keyboard and vocal music will be sung by the Byrd Festival Consort, led by Dr. Ross Duffin, Professor Emeritus at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland with Mark Williams of Magdalen College, Oxford on organ and harpsichord. Tickets can be purchased here.

On Sunday, August 20, Choir Director Brian Fairbanks offers a forum called “The Reluctant Singer.” Learn some basic vocal technique and music reading tips, whether or not you consider yourself a singer. Everyone is invited to make some noise in this fun, inclusive workshop!
