Children’s Liturgy of the Word Update

Hey, kids! We are back – live and in-person for the 9 & 11 o’clock liturgies beginning on Pentecost, May 23. Bring your family to church and join Leslie Sackett for stories, crafts and games all summer long. Children’s Liturgy will meet in the Nativity or Parish Hall with windows open and lots of good air circulation.

Sunday’s Music

Reckoning with Racism

Since September 2020, a cohort of St. Michael’s parishioners have been participating in a course called “Reckoning with Racism.” This was organized by Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and has been a deep dive into the historical racism in the state of Oregon.

Youth Group Gathering

The St. Michael’s Youth Group is meeting this coming Sunday, May 16, at Normandale Park on NE Halsey from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. We will offer a prepackaged light snack, and masks and social distancing will be required. We will meet rain or shine, so please dress accordingly – and wear shoes appropriate for playing kickball!

Music Updates

Sunday’s prelude, anthem and postlude were all composed by 19th- and 20th-century English women. Elizabeth Poston’s Jesus Christ, the apple tree is a classic anthem, often heard in December as a Christmas carol but especially relevant in highlighting Sunday’s gospel on bearing fruit.

The Youth Leader cohort has been busy planning for some in-person youth gatherings this spring. They plan to meet at Normandale Park on Halsey, the same park as in the fall, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. The dates are this coming Sunday, April 25; Sunday, May 16; and Sunday, June 6.
