We will celebrate and honor Recovery Sunday on August 6. The service that day will incorporate references to the tenets of Recovery and will be followed by a forum in the Nativity Hall. Guest presenters from the fellowships of OA, Al-Anon, CA and AA have graciously agreed to participate in this forum.
When I found The Episcopal Church, my immediate impression was quite the opposite to prior experiences of church. I found a well-structured order of worship together, which initially seemed to minimize individual preferences; and throughout the community there was a generous freedom in terms of individual thought and expression of self.
Much of the time, we don’t read directly from The Book of Common Prayer—like, from the actual book—most Sundays at St. Michael’s. You probably see it every week, peeking over the pew racks in back of each row, right next to hymnals and miscellaneous information cards.
A wonderful time was had by all who participated in the 2023 Pride Parade on Sunday, July 16! Over 25 folks walked behind two St. Michael’s banners.
For the next few weeks, we will be trying an experiment. We’ll offer the Sunday worship bulletin in two formats – printed paper copy and digital download for your smartphone or tablet.
A word we say quite a lot around church is the word amen. It shows up at the end of collects, acclamations, petitions and prayers throughout our liturgies.
As we have for many years, St. Michael’s is collecting new backpacks, school supplies and gift cards for local children in the foster-care system. Please bring items to the church on Sunday, July 23, through Sunday, August 20.
