This coming Sunday, September 17, we welcome a special guest speaker for a forum on suicide prevention. Please join poet, artist, humanism-in-medicine awardee and child psychiatrist Dr. Diane Kaufman at 10:15 am in the Nativity Hall. The title of Dr. Kaufman’s talk is “Hope, Healing, & Holding On: A Suicide Prevention Awareness Presentation.”
It was so great to begin the Fall season with you, to revel in the exquisite music of our St. Michael Singers, and to move together into new rhythms of worship, fellowship and service that come with the changing season.
You might recognize the Prayers of the People said each time we gather for Eucharist. Often these are prayers that use a prepared form from the Book of Common Prayer or another resource. Lately, they’ve been lovingly composed by members of the community.
Interfaith Power and Light is sponsoring a webinar entitled “Inflation Reduction Act Resources to Electrify your Home” at 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 7.
ST. MICHAEL’S CHORISTERS: Grades 3 and up. The results are in! Our preferred rehearsal time is Sundays, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Rehearsals begin right away on September 10, so we can be ready to sing Evensong for the Feast of St. Michael & All Angels on September 29. It will be the 100th ANNIVERSARY of our Nave!
We’ve been collecting new backpacks and school supplies for a month or so, and the community has responded very generously. We have over 50 backpacks, and this Sunday, August 20, we’ll be packing them with supplies after the 10:00 am service.
Plans are coming together for our Eucharist and picnic next Sunday, August 27, with the gathering beginning at 10:00 am and the service at 11:00. Please note that there WILL be a 7:30 am service but NO 10:00 am or 1:00 pm services at the church. We’ll be gathering at Wilshire Park in Northeast Portland in sites A and B.
