The choir is split for Advent III on Sunday, December 17. At 9:00 am, the tenors and basses will be featured, singing a beloved arrangement of the 13th century plainsong tune Of the Father’s love begotten. At 11:00 am, the sopranos and altos will sing a lively Magnificat by David Hogan, who was one of the 230 people whose lives were cut short on July 17, 1996 aboard the ill-fated TWA Flight 800 from New York to Paris. His joyful spirit lives on through his music.
Coming up on Christmas Eve, the St. Michael’s Choristers and Angel Choir will sing at the 4:00 pm service. At 6:00 pm, the Saints & Singers Choir offer the Spanish anthem Ha Nacido el Salvador. For the 10:30 pm service, the St. Michael’s Singers are preparing six anthems or carols, including arrangements by Duncan Tuomi, Morten Lauridsen, William L. Dawson, and Alice Parker & Robert Shaw. Lots of music (and hymn descants) to eagerly anticipate!
