This Sunday, May 23, we celebrate the moveable feast of Pentecost, which is celebrated on the 50th day (the seventh Sunday) from Easter Sunday. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem, as described in Acts 2:1-31.

The liturgical celebrations of Pentecost are rich and varied. The color red symbolizes joy and the fire of the Holy Spirit. Clergy wear red vestments, and the interiors of churches are often decorated with banners to symbolize the “mighty wind” and doves and flames, symbols of the Holy Spirit.

We realize that many of you will be watching the live-stream of the 9:00 am service; but we are blessed to be able to gather in person for Pentecost this year in contrast to the complete lockdown of 2020. If you are attending either of our services on Sunday, we encourage you to wear red, yellow and/or orange to celebrate this feast. We can take your photo in front of the red doors if you’d like; or you can take a photo at home and send it to the church office.

As of Thursday afternoon, our 9:00 service is at maximum capacity , but all are welcome to attend the 11:00 am service in the courtyard – no signup necessary!
