Ministry Description:
The Lector proclaims the Word of God during worship
Position Requirements:
- Must be a committed member of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church and faithful in Sunday attendance
- Must attend Lector orientation prior to beginning this ministry
- Must speak clearly and with sufficient strength to be heard
- Must be comfortable with public speaking
- Must have access to the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible
- Must understand the importance of this ministry as communicating the Word of God in human voice to the People of God.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate availability for service by the 15th day of the current month for the following month.
- Spend time with assigned Scripture passage prior to Sunday in order to have a greater understanding of the message to be conveyed.
- If unable to read on date assigned, will obtain a substitute and inform the parish office of the change.
- Dress the way you would when you want people to take you seriously.
- Attend Lector meetings as scheduled.
