The Rector's Space
“I will, with God’s help.”
During the past few weeks, I’ve been spending extra time with our Baptismal Covenant—in Youth and Adult Confirmation Groups, preparing families for the celebration of two baptisms (1:00 service on All Saints), and finalizing liturgies for Bishop Akiyama’s visitation to St. Michael’s (Sunday!).
Music for Sunday & Looking Ahead
The St. Michael’s Singers will finish out the liturgical church year today with classic anthems by Ralph Vaughan Williams (“Let all the world in every corner sing” from “Five Mystical Songs”) and W.A. Mozart (“Ave verum corpus”). Hymns and keyboard voluntaries will reflect the themes of Thanksgiving and the Reign of Christ.
It’s not too late to join one of our Choirs!
St. Michael’s is well-known throughout the diocese and around the city for offering amazing music to members and visitors alike. We offer not just one but four robust choirs. They all have a lot of fun singing together! To find out more about any of the English-language choirs, please contact our Music Director Hannah Brewer or Choir Director Brian Fairbanks.
Blessing of the Animals
The Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment, falls on October 4 this year. We will celebrate on Sunday, October 6, with a Blessing of the Animals between the 11:00 am and 1:00 pm services in the courtyard.
Youth Group Fall Gatherings
There’s a lot happening with the St. Michael’s Youth Group! On Sunday, October 6, Lenia will lead her weekly group for middle-schoolers in the Raphael Room at 1:15 pm. From 5:00 to 6:30 pm, all high-schoolers are invited to the Parish Hall for snacks, games and conversation. RSVPs for this gathering and the confirmation class mentioned below are welcome but not required.
