All members of St. Michael’s are invited to a special Misa on Sunday, December 11, at 1:00 pm to celebrate The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A potluck convivio, or festive meal, will be held immediately following the Misa. Please meet in the Gallery where the procession will begin. Check the flyer here.
This celebration honors the date in December 1531 when the Virgin Mary appeared before a young indigenous man (and Christian convert) named Juan Diego. A venerated image on his cloak is enshrined within the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, which is the world’s third most sacred site. Although rooted in Mexico, where it is a national holiday, this special day has been embraced by many cultures throughout Latin America.
