Music News

This Sunday the St. Michael’s Singers will sing in German at 9am and 11am. The offertory anthem by Felix Mendelssohn uses a famous text by Martin Luther, as we acknowledge Reformation Sunday. The organ prelude and postlude this week are also by Mendelssohn (1809-1847), excerpts from two of his organ sonatas.

Much more organ music is on the way for the Halloween Organ Spooktacular on October 31 at 7pm! You’ll hear plenty of spooky French organ music, as well as Bach’s classic Toccata and Fugue in D minor, all played by St. Michael’s Organist Hannah Brewer. Between each musical piece, readers will recite dramatic, creepy poems by the likes of Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Emily Dickinson, John Keats, and Louise Glück. If you don’t have other Halloween plans, come on over to enjoy the costumes, candy, and campy atmosphere. It’s FREE!
