| Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols |
| This Sunday December 21 at 5pm | Nave Don’t miss our annual Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols followed by a festive reception. This beautiful, candlelit service is comprised of poems and scripture selections, classic Advent and Christmas hymns, and ten carols sung by the St. Michael’s Singers. Composers include favorites like Antonio Vivaldi and Morten Lauridsen, local talents Jaebon Hwang and our own Robert Lockwood, and the African-American composer Rosephanye Powell, whose work, “The Word Was God,” will be featured after the ninth lesson on Sunday. Earlier this year, Powell was controversially sued by Indiana Bible College after she called them out for slightly changing and republishing this iconic work without crediting her. In response, we—like so many other choral organizations around the country—have specifically programmed her original work to show support for the artist and her intellectual property. |
