For All Saints the St. Michael’s Singers have prepared two excerpts from Gabriel Fauré’s beloved Requiem to sing at the 9am service. Baritone Dan Gibbs, fresh off his performance in York the Explorer (a folk opera), will be our soloist during the offertory. The ethereal soprano section takes the reins at communion with Fauré’s In paradisum, as we sing to our dearly departed (in Latin): “may choirs of angels receive you.” The Saints & Singers, meanwhile, lead at the 11am service with an arrangement of the classic folk hymn Saints Bound for Heaven.

But before we commemorate our departed loved ones, let’s have some spooky fun on Friday, October 31 with Petrifying Pipes & Poetry: A Halloween Organ Spooktacular! Join St. Michael’s organist/witch Hannah Brewer and several spectacularly scary readers for an hour of atmospheric organ music and poetry to celebrate this fun, creepy holiday. Costumes are encouraged. Candy will of course be available. Bring your neighbor or apathetic teen who is way too grown up for trick-or-treating. It’s FREE!
