Music for October 29

This weekend’s 9am and 11am services feature an eclectic mixture of musical themes. You’ll hear Gabriel Fauré’s lush Cantique de Jean Racine, sung by the St. Michael’s Singers at 9 AM, the traditional Spiritual Just a closer walk with thee at 11 AM with the Saints & Singers Choir, as well as some musical nods to Reformation Sunday with A Mighty Fortress is our God.

Don’t forget about two music events coming up right here at St. Michael’s! This Sunday at 4 PM, Lisa Terry (viola da gamba) and Webb Wiggins (harpsichord) will perform music by Couperin on their West Coast tour. $20 suggested donation at the door. Then, on Sunday, November 5 at 5 PM, we have our Choral Evensong for the Feast of All Souls. This 45 minute service will be preceded by a harpsichord prelude and will feature our colorful Día de los Muertos altar. Musical highlights from the St. Michael’s Singers include Herbert Howells’ Collegium Regale evening canticles, an excerpt from William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, and Eleanor Daley’s poignant In Remembrance from her Requiem. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
