This Sunday’s music is brought to you by J.S. Bach, the most esteemed and respected of Baroque composers. Long-time choir member and parishioner Josh English will sing a well-known solo by Bach, “Bist du bei mir,” at the offertory. Josh takes voice lessons from Alex Adams, who was our bass section leader for several years before moving to the Seattle area last summer. Sunday’s organ prelude will also feature two lovely Bach chorale preludes from his Orgelbüchlein collection (“Little Organ Book,” in that they’re short pieces). To tie the service together, Sunday’s postlude will depart from the Bach theme and highlight a living composer, the Canadian organist Denis Bédard (b. 1950).
