The Creation Care Team invites you to an Earth Day Forum between services on Sunday, April 21. We will show the exciting new movie, Common Ground, a film that explains how regenerating the world’s soils has the potential to rapidly stabilize the Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. The first part of the film will be shown during the forum today, and the second part will be shown at 7:00 pm in the Nativity Hall on Monday, April 22. To learn more about this film, click here.
The forum will also offer you an opportunity to sign a letter to our county commissioners urging them to ensure that we have clean air in Multnomah County; to pledge to vote with Climate Justice and Creation care in mind in the November election; and pick up information on the dangers of the Zenith oil-storage facility. We will also have copies of a Climate Blessing to repeat with people the world over at noon on Earth Day, Monday, April 22.
Here is that blessing:
We Hold the Earth
We hold brothers and sisters who suffer from storms and droughts intensified by climate change.
We hold all species that suffer.
We hold world leaders delegated to make decisions for life.
We pray that the web of life may be mended through courageous actions to limit carbon emissions.
We pray for right actions for adaptation and mitigation to help our already suffering earth community.
We pray that love and wisdom might inspire my actions and our actions as communities. . .
so that we may, with integrity, look into the eyes of brothers and sisters and all beings and truthfully say,
we are doing our part to care for them and the future of the children.
May love transform us and our world with new steps toward life.
