It may be difficult to imagine attending a wacky, colorful show like Broadway Night amidst the gloom and daily chaos of our national politics. However, we need more than ever to keep celebrating joy, bravery, and expression in all its forms. Our choir members are voluntarily putting themselves out there for our Broadway Night fundraiser: singing, dancing, memorizing lyrics and choreography, preparing a welcoming, beautified space with silent auction items, wine and dessert. They are rehearsing feverishly to entertain you and distract from the world at large, and to remind you of the power of storytelling in songs of love, humor, pathos, and more than a little silliness.
Our music program that this fundraiser supports is inclusionary. We do not audition singers and welcome any and all to participate in one of our three choirs. We celebrate and work to highlight diversity through our repertoire and programming. Every Sunday, we seek to guide the congregation in at times peaceful, at times bold worship experiences.
We ask for your financial support by attending this Broadway Night fundraiser (tickets are $40 each). This helps us pay our professional section leaders an appropriate wage; add more music by women and BIPOC composers to our choral library; support the Coro musical leadership at 1:00 pm; invite musical guests like the Portland Brass Quintet at Easter; and so much more.
We invite you to take a break from the demoralizing news cycle, grab some wine, peruse some fabulous auction items, and enjoy the show on Friday or Saturday. Tickets can be bought at the door starting at 6:30 pm. Saturday’s show will be live-streamed for those who can’t be with us in person. THANK YOU for supporting our beloved music program!
