Music This Sunday, October 11

Sunday’s music includes an anonymous 16th century motet (“Rejoice in the Lord alway” [sic]) sung by the St. Michael’s Singers, as well as a communion anthem by the late American composer Jane Marshall (1924-2019), who sets an unusual text originating from a Gaelic rune. Other highlights include organ voluntaries by two Baroque composers: a chorale partita (variations on a hymn tune) by Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) and a grand movement by the Frenchman Louis-Nicolas Clérambault (1676-1749).
