On Sunday, September 28 we celebrate the feast day of St. Michael & All Angels. In the morning, the full 40-strong St. Michael’s Singers will sing at 9am while the Saints & Singers are at 11am. This latter choir is looking for more members and is open to any who want to show up and learn the anthem between services at 10:15am in the chancel. You don’t need a robe, you won’t need to process, nor is choral experience necessary. Just show up on time on Sunday morning with a willingness to learn, sing, and lead!
Later, at 5pm on Sunday, the St. Michael’s Singers present a Choral Evensong for our patronal feast day. The evening canticles will be sung in Spanish, while the anthem (in Latin) is by Vicente Lusitano, a mixed-race composer from the 16th century, considered by scholars to be the first published black composer. All are invited to the reception after the service in the Parish Hall.
