Advocacy Action will be in the Gallery between services this Sunday, March 10, with a letter to the Oregon Board of Forestry. The letter is regarding a new Habitat Conservation Plan that is designed to support both the communities and the public forests of Oregon.
If approved, the plan will provide a better balance between timber harvests and healthy ecosystems. It will ensure clean water for rural communities as well as for salmon; conserve habitat for endangered wildlife; help curb the climate crisis by capturing and storing carbon from the atmosphere; and support a strong economy that balances the needs of both our people and our forests.
