You’re invited to a special Misa on Monday, December 11, at 8:00 pm to celebrate Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. A convivio feast will begin the celebration at 8:00, followed the service at about 9:45 pm. Check the flyer here. The service will be in Spanish, but all are welcome to attend.

This celebration honors the date in 1531 when the Virgin Mary appeared before a young indigenous man (and Christian convert) named Juan Diego at a place called the Hill of Tepeyac. Although rooted in Mexico, where it is a national holiday, this special day has been embraced by many cultures throughout Latin America.

The other important Latino celebration this month is Las Posadas (Spanish for “inn” or “shelter”), a traditional Advent candlelight procession and celebration reenacting Mary and Joseph’s long and difficult search for a place where Jesus could be born. This event takes place on Sunday, December 17, following the 1:00 Misa. All are welcome!
