SUMMARY:St. Michael's Singers rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:This 35-voice choir provides vocal leadership during the 9:00 and 11:00 am Sunday services from early September through early June. The choir sings an anthem during the offertory at each service and leads the congregation in the psalms\, hymns and service music. \nThe St. Michael’s Singers is a close-knit community of singers with varying levels of choral experience who are willing to make the commitment required to maintain a high level of music-making in support of our worship services. The St. Michael’s Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and sing at the 9:00 and/or 11:00 services each Sunday (except in summertime)\, rehearsing an hour before each service. A smaller Chamber Choir consisting of four paid section leaders and other members of the St. Michael’s Singers takes the alternate services. \nThe St. Michael’s Singers also prepares music for special services such as Choral Evensong\, Advent Lessons & Carols\, Christmas Eve and Holy Week. The choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional Anglican choral anthems to gospel spirituals\, Renaissance motets\, world music\, and everything in between. The St. Michael’s Singers is open to anyone who can match pitch and commit to the schedule of weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning services. Some choral experience is helpful\, but no audition is required. DESCRIPTION:The Catechumenate is the primary parish process for incorporating new Christians into life in Christ through Holy Baptism. It also serves\nto support those persons already baptized who are coming to a new place in their faith journey and want to affirm that through Confirmation\,\nReception into The Episcopal Church from another faith tradition\, or Reaffirmation. The formation process is one of listening to and reflecting on the Gospels\, the Baptismal Covenant\, our personal relationships with God and the work of God the Holy Spirit in our daily lives\, all of this within the context of sharing in Christian community. \nThe Catechumenate meets almost every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and from Advent 1 to the Bishop’s Visitation in May.

SUMMARY:Centering Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Silent\, contemplative prayer is a practice which many find to be a nourishing discipline in the midst of a busy\, noisy world. The Centering Prayer group has met consistently since 2003. Participants gather at St. Michael’s House from 7:00 to 8:45 pm on first and third Mondays from the fall through the spring\, and typically meet on only one of those weeks during the summer months. \nBased on the historical Christian silent meditation practices espoused by Fr. Thomas Keating and Oregon Contemplative Outreach\, there are typically two 20-minute silent “sits” that bookend a short discussion time on a designated book or bible passage (Lectio Divina). We have a core of faithful practitioners that meet to “hold space” in their lives and in community — to develop mindfulness\, as a place for the sacred to enter into our daily lives\, and in support of our personal spiritual journey and contemplative practice. \nAll are welcome to just show up\, or contact the church office\, Paul Lacroix\, Hans Carter or Tim Sackett for more information.

DESCRIPTION:Building on the success and interest in this year’s adult formation series Bible 101 and Reclaiming Jesus\, this fall\, we will be offering a follow-up called Bible Lab on Monday nights from 5:30 to 6:30 pm\, beginning October 1 and continuing through December 17\, excluding October 29.\nDuring our last session of Bible 101\, we distilled our learning into a set of seven essential questions which we can ask ourselves any time we find ourselves faced with a particularly perplexing piece of scripture. During our Bible Lab sessions\, we’ll work in small groups to apply these questions to the texts for the coming Sunday. Participants will be provided with resources (including James as the instructor!) to decide which questions matter most to a particular passage and how to find answers for themselves. \nEach session will end by sharing our learnings with the whole group and by choosing a verse from what we’ve studied to carry into the week in prayer. Arrive early at 5:00 for Evening Prayer\, or stay late on the second Monday of the month for Taizé Prayers\, or the first and/or third Mondays for Centering Prayer.

SUMMARY:St. Michael's Singers rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:This 35-voice choir provides vocal leadership during the 9:00 and 11:00 am Sunday services from early September through early June. The choir sings an anthem during the offertory at each service and leads the congregation in the psalms\, hymns and service music. \nThe St. Michael’s Singers is a close-knit community of singers with varying levels of choral experience who are willing to make the commitment required to maintain a high level of music-making in support of our worship services. The St. Michael’s Singers rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and sing at the 9:00 and/or 11:00 services each Sunday (except in summertime)\, rehearsing an hour before each service. A smaller Chamber Choir consisting of four paid section leaders and other members of the St. Michael’s Singers takes the alternate services. \nThe St. Michael’s Singers also prepares music for special services such as Choral Evensong\, Advent Lessons & Carols\, Christmas Eve and Holy Week. The choir’s repertoire ranges from traditional Anglican choral anthems to gospel spirituals\, Renaissance motets\, world music\, and everything in between. The St. Michael’s Singers is open to anyone who can match pitch and commit to the schedule of weekly rehearsals and Sunday morning services. Some choral experience is helpful\, but no audition is required. SUMMARY:St. Michael's Choristers rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:The youth choir program at St. Michael’s is based on the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) tradition and is open to all treble voices between the ages of 8-18. This choir training program meets on Wednesdays at 4:45 pm during the school year to learn the basics of musicianship and choral technique. The Choristers sing a brief Evening Prayer service each Wednesday at 6:30 pm and join with the St. Michael’s Singers or the Saints & Singers Choir one Sunday per month at 9:00 or 11:00.
