Meet our New Rector!
The Vestry is delighted to announce that The Rev. R. Scott Painter, who currently serves as rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, has accepted our call to serve as St. Michael & All Angels’ next Rector.
Transition Update
The transition process to find St. Michael’s next rector is now making its way through the final phase of a year-long process that began last January when the Communication, Profile and Search Committees were formed.
Search Committee hands off work to Vestry
The Search Committee officially handed their work over to the vestry at last Thursday’s vestry meeting. Senior Warden Helen Crandell will guide the vestry as the process to select a new rector continues. The vestry will begin by reviewing the vast amount of information amassed by the Search Committee in their part of the search process. The vestry must examine not only the written material submitted by the candidates, but interview transcripts and videos of their sermons as well.
Transition Update – early December 2022
After more than six months and literally hundreds of hours, the Search Committee is nearing the end of their mission. Soon the results of their application evaluations, zoom interviews, and discernment discussions will be turned over to the vestry.
The Search Committee began their efforts in April and coordinated with the Profile Committee as they did the necessary research to develop a process and timeline.
Transition Update – November 2022
The Search Committee has completed the first round of interviews with the candidates and are preparing for a second round. We’d like to thank all of you for participating in the listening sessions and the parish survey. The Profile Committee distilled your voices and vision into a beautiful document that clearly expressed who we are and what we seek in our next rector. All of the candidates have told us that our vision and values resonated deeply with them.
Transition Update – October 17
The window for applications for the position of rector of St. Michael’s closed on Saturday, October 8, with nine applicants. Members of the Search Committee have met to review the applications, and they’ve selected four candidates for interviews.
