“What is God’s dream for St. Michael’s?” On Sunday, May 7, we began a series of three Forums to help us envision what God may be dreaming up for us next. Maria McDowell kicked off these Forums with a project which will help us identify the particularities of our Anglican identity and temperament as we find them expressed at St. Michael’s. Which values from our tradition have we experienced here? Which ones do we want to be sure continue for future generations?

Part of discerning a vision for St. Michael’s is understanding our personal and community characteristics as we engage God’s dream for this place. John Westerhoff characterized Anglican spirituality and temperament in A People Called Episcopalians, summarized here. We would like to know your preferred spirituality and temperament, and how you see the spirituality and temperament of St. Michael’s. If you did not do this at the recent Sunday Forum, please fill out this form!

Thank you to all who have creatively designed and decorated a flame cutout — our visioning art project. We would love to receive yours; please bring it back to St. Michael’s by Monday, May 29, at the latest. The flames will be beautifully displayed in the church for Pentecost.

What’s your favorite hymn or hymns (or even non-religious song), and how does it reflect your spiritual vision? At today’s Forum, join Lindsey Ramsey and other members of the St. Michael’s Dream Weavers team in exploring the music that reflects the reality of our lives and our purpose as a congregation. Through musical examples and sharing, we’ll talk about the songs that express our spirituality and how they connect to our wildest dreams about St. Michael’s.

If you have any questions or comments throughout this process, please feel free to contact any one of the Vision Team members: Gladys Alvarado, Bruce Collins, Chris Craun, Penny Hummel, Fabian Ramirez, Lindsey Ramsey and Tim Sackett.
